From childhood, we learn to welcome strangers with open hearts, care for animals and Mother Earth, and support those who need us most: Elders, Knowledge Keepers, veterans, LGBTQ+ community members, people experiencing homelessness, those with disabilities, and our cherished pets. A warm meal shared with a neighbor, a listening ear offered to someone in pain, or a gentle hand extended to help an Elder these moments embody the essence of Kitimakaymiwek. Our children witness kindness in action as they grow, learning that compassion is not merely a feeling but a way of being. We celebrate this sacred value by lifting up the vulnerable and extending compassion to all beings. Our leaders shape this reality by modeling kindness in their actions, creating spaces where every person is honoured, and guiding our community with hearts open to the needs of others.
